Best AI app builders

By Cathy Riddell · Prices checked 31 Oct 2026 · Last updated 31 Oct 2026

Short answer: If you want to describe an app or website in plain English and get something you can publish, I’d start with Lovable: it has a free plan with no credit card, and Pro is US$25/mo with 100 monthly credits, custom domains and unlimited users (official page, as of Oct 2026). Bolt.new is the closest alternative at the same US$25/mo Pro price, metered in tokens. Bubble suits apps you plan to grow into a business, on web and native mobile. Replit and v0 lean towards people comfortable with code.

How this page was made: I compared each vendor’s official pricing and feature pages on 31 Oct 2026. Hands-on test notes are added only after I’ve used the product on a real account; until then they’re marked as pending. My review method.

What should a small business look for in an AI app builder?

  • How usage is metered: most builders charge in credits or tokens, so a plan’s headline price isn’t the whole cost.
  • Publishing: check whether the free plan lets you publish publicly and use your own domain.
  • Hosting and database: some include hosting and a database; others deploy elsewhere.
  • Who owns the code: read the vendor’s terms if you may move the app later.
  • Security: for anything handling customer data, look for SSO and compliance details on business plans.

Lovable: best overall for non-developers

Lovable builds software from a plain-language description. As of Oct 2026 its official pricing page lists a Free plan (no credit card, unlimited collaborators, 5 lovable.app domains and invite-only publishing), Pro at US$25/mo with 100 monthly credits, credit rollovers, on-demand top-ups, custom domains, user roles and badge removal, and Business at US$50/mo with 100 monthly credits plus SSO, a team workspace, a security centre and priority support. Enterprise is volume-priced. Paying yearly gives 2 months free.

Trade-off: the 100 monthly credits on Pro are the main limit, so heavy building means buying top-ups.

Bolt.new: best for a generous free token allowance

Bolt.new creates apps and websites by chatting with AI. Its Free plan includes 1M tokens a month (300K a day), public and private projects, unlimited databases and website hosting, with Bolt branding on sites. Pro is US$25/mo billed monthly with 10M tokens a month that roll over, your own domain, no Bolt branding, connectors and MCPs. Teams is US$30 per member a month. Bolt says yearly billing saves up to 28% (official page, Oct 2026).

Bubble: best for apps you plan to grow, on web and mobile

Bubble calls itself a no-code AI app builder for web and native mobile apps. Its Free plan includes 500 AI credits and 50K workload units a month for building; going live with a custom domain starts on Starter at US$32/mo billed annually. Growth is US$119/mo and Team US$349/mo, both billed annually, on web plans. Bubble says annual billing saves up to 20%, and publishing a native app to the App Store or Google Play needs a paid plan (official page, Oct 2026).

Trade-off: on top of the plan, Bubble meters server usage in workload units, with overages or add-on tiers if you exceed them.

Replit: best for commercial and professional builds

Replit turns ideas into apps and says it offers a Free Mode for creating without token costs. Its Core plan is US$20/mo, or US$18/mo billed annually, with up to 30 hours of chat and 60 projects on Free Mode and US$20 of usage towards more powerful models. Pro is US$100/mo, or US$90/mo billed annually, with US$100 towards the most powerful models, premium support, up to 15 collaborators and database rollback up to 28 days (official page, Oct 2026).

v0 by Vercel: best for developers deploying to Vercel

v0 is Vercel’s AI builder. Its Free plan gives new users US$5 in one-time credits and a 7-message-a-day limit, and lets you deploy apps to Vercel, edit visually with Design Mode and sync with GitHub. Paid plans are priced per user: Business is US$100 per user a month with US$30 of included monthly credits per user and training opt-out by default. Prices exclude tax (official page, Oct 2026). I haven’t quoted the Plus plan because its price didn’t display clearly when I checked.

How do I choose?

  1. If you don’t code, start with Lovable or Bolt.new on a free plan and build one small real thing.
  2. If you need native mobile apps or plan to scale, look at Bubble’s plans and workload limits.
  3. If you or a developer will work in the code, compare Replit and v0.
  4. Check how credits or tokens are used before you upgrade.
